The World Cages series consists of five paintings created as a commission for the Private Choice 2023 exhibition. Abandoned children’s beds and cradles salvaged from the street serve as supports for screen prints on cotton canvas. Gold-plated, their slats and frames turn these objects into gilded cages sheltering images of endangered birds.

The work carries a critique of the mass construction of mansions and buildings, like the one hosting it, and of a bourgeoisie that, at the expense of global biodiversity, shuts itself away in gilded cages.
